IMMERSE IN THE TIMELESS ART
Our driver will come and pick you up at your place in the center of Hanoi or a designated meeting point at 8:00. We will then embark on a one-hour ride to the Dong Ho Painting village.
When we get there, you will have time to stroll around the village and take wonderful photos with the paintings that the residents of Dong Ho village have made. Each painting has a deep meaning that reflects not only the normal life of Vietnamese people but also the long-standing culture of the nation.
After that, we will take you to a Dong Ho painting workshop, where you can make a painting of your own. With the guidance of the professional, you will be explained the steps in making a painting, including:
- Creating the design
- Carving the black woodblock
- Print the outlines
- Adding colors
By participating in this activity, you will gain a deeper understanding of the artistry and cultural value behind this traditional Vietnamese craft.

Once you’ve created a folk painting to take home as a keepsake, we can visit the Dong Ho painting conservation center, where they preserve over 100 artifacts and ancient Dong Ho paintings. Each painting carries the imprint of time and the spirit of the craft village. Admiring famous works such as The Rat’s Wedding, Return in Glory, The Rose Rooster, Prosperity and Honor, or Buffalo Boy Playing the Flute will take you into the unique and nostalgic world of Dong Ho folk paintings.
Finally, we will return to your accommodation in Hanoi at about 12:00 and say goodbye to each other.
This tour offers you the opportunity to experience the beauty of Dong Ho folk paintings while exploring the roots of Vietnam’s cultural heritage. From learning the craft step by step to discovering its centuries-old legacy, every moment in Dong Ho Village will bring you closer to the traditions and artistry of the Vietnamese people.
